News You can use- Picture- Monday #3

Ground zero spirit [2001]

This picture has a huge contrast between the American flag and the destroyed background. This highlights the hope for the future compared to the devastation of 9/11. The background is all grey and covers the whole background, showing that the disaster isn't over yet, but there's still hope. The brightness of the flag and the bold colors of the firefighters make them stand out fro the disaster and show they're trying to help. They're determined faces also stand out to show that they're just people trying to help out.

In this editorial, the author believes that the deficit reduction plan that Obama is trying to pass is fair, but fears that the republicans in the committee that has to approve it may try to keep it from being approved because of tax increases for the wealthy in it. If this happens, he thinks the democrats should try to pass what they can and let the next election be a referendum. He also believes that breaking apart the committee would be a bad idea because it would put national security at risk. He finally believes that if the democrats try to keep a deal from happening if they don't get the tax increases, it would make a lot of Americans angry at them and keep other federal programs from working well.

This was a continuation of the overthrow of the Egyptian government. Turkey, also, recently expelled Israeli diplomats, a continuation of hostilities that started last year after several Turkish activists were killed in a clash that broke out on a ship trying to break through the Gaza blockade.
