In the article "Congress Must Reform America's Food Safety System" by  Caroline Smith DeWaal, she stresses  that Congress needs to reform the actions taken to make sure food is safe. She says that the laws created that lets the FDA make sure food is safe are outdated and don't properly cover the dangers. Also, food outbreak can effect many different types of food, including healthy food, and when healthy food is effected, less people buy it, endangering their health. Finally, she believes that the main consequences fall onto the consumer, who can be afflicted with costly, painful, and with possible lasting effects, or death.
