Monday #6- Food Safety 3

In the article "Additional Food Regulation is not Needed", by David E. Gumpert, he stresses that despite common news stories about foodborne illnesses, there isn't a lot of information to back up, with much of the statements by the FDA being very vague data. Also, existing data on the subject is out of date and inaccurate, built on wide estimates and outdated information. Some more recent studies have even shown that the rate of illness has gone down since then. Finally, he also stresses that more FDA regulations hurt small businesses by increasing costs and work, as well as possibly infringing on personal rights, such as protection against searches without a reason or a warrant.
